A sample lesson plan Postal office section - 3 of 4 2nd Game - Translation from English to the mother tongue and back to English: Give out the following table, printed out onto paper. In pairs, the first student looks at the English word in the left-hand column and translates the word or expression into French. The second student - who folds his/her paper over in order not to see column 1 - writes the word in mother tongue in the second column and translates it back into English. The first student checks the accuracy of the translation against the first column. Note that the * next to a word or expression denotes a new word being taught for the first time in the game. Instructions: the 1st partner looks at column one and translates the English word or expression into Chinese; the 2nd partner folds the page vertically and folds column one back so that s/he never sees it. He writes the French translation in column two and translates it back into English. The 1st partner writes what partner n° 2 has said in column three and when this has been done, both partners check to see if columns one and three are the same.
