moralizatus
- text ascribed variously to
Mayno de Mayneri
and Nicolaus Pergamenus
- known in several manuscripts from 14th
C.
- printed in Latin by Gerard Leeu in Gouda,
1480, with four reprints, and one without
illustrations in Cologne
- and by Johan Snell in Stockholm, 1483 with the illustrations in mirror image
- there were also two editions in Dutch,
and one in French
There are more than 120 dialogues,
each containing three or four stories on the same theme - one of the
traditional kind given here, one from the Christian Bible, one or
more from Classical antiquity...
