The dream of a life-time starting to come true...!!!
For as long as I can remember I've been fascinated by type-faces.I still have all those photocopies I used to save of anything I came across that was a tiny bit unusual, and that Lettraset catalogue from some time in the 1960s is completely dog-eared ... I used to copy them by hand to make birthday and Christmas cards, and dream that one day I might be able to do something a bit more systematic with them, with medieval & renaissance calligraphy, the work of the old printers, my handwriting and so on...
And then suddenly it all became possible, with the 'Fontographer' program for creating typefaces and fonts - affordable as part of the FreeHand Graphics Studio - from Macromedia ... and now the most beautiful results are accessible with little more than an 'entry-level' scanner and a mouse-click to activate an "automatic trace" command ...
