- typefaces/fonts
- automated tasks
- artificial voices, speech recognition
- conversion between different formats
- productivity programs, for dealing with
- words
- pictures
- sound
- animation
- managing time ('personal organisers')
- tools for, i.a.
- maintenance, problem diagnosis and -solving
- file compression
- network connection
