My first scanner was a rather high-quality one, but I got it thrown in for free with the first computer, because no-one else wanted black-and-white... The second one was a colour model, they call it 'entry-level', for me it's just the cheapest one the market, bought at a warehouse in Paris when I was working there - but still from a reputable firm, and it produces amazing results... |

And the drawing slate bridges the gap between hand-drawing and the computer in a rather exciting way - it's sensitive to the pressure you draw with, and reflects it in a variety of ways, like the thickness of the line and the density of the colour. |

It's still a bit plasticy to hold, of course, and what it produces isn't anything physical you can hold in your hand - unless you print it out, of course - but it's all part of opening up a communication with a new circle of people, unlimited by physical nearness, publishers' whims, and financial constraints...
