your own with Fontographer, while
prices for the products in the FontLab series
range from $50 - $550; for Windows users

People
have been used to saying that the
Adobe
Type Manager addresses the problem,
but it seems clear that that is specifically
with PostScript fonts, including OpenType:
but there's no mention there of TrueType.
I
certainly had the impression that it was
much more generally used than that before:
but maybe it's that, since PDF is a PostScript
format, earlier versions of Acrobat needed
ATM: but from v.4 on, Acrobat has it own
routines for anti-aliasing.
