And Inverary Woollen Mill turns out not to be a woollen mill at all, nor was there ever a woollen mill in Inverary. I gather they've taken the idea from the Edinburgh Woollen Mill, which perhaps was a mill originally, but turned into a chain of shops where ladies in imitation kilts sell expensive woollen things (and shortcake and sweets and jams) which have probably been made somewhere in Scotland: so this is Inverary's answer to the Edinburgh Woollen Mill - a shop where ladies in imitation kilts sell expensive woollen things (and shortcake and sweets and jams) which have certainly not been made in Inverary. |
