Web-page, web-site, home page - what's
the difference?
-
'web-page'
- - a separate page, with no special
context
'web-site'
- - a collection of web pages, which together
make up a unit: the comparison is with a building site
'home
page'
- -
is used in at least three different ways:
it can
be a web-site which deals with an individual as well as a
person's private life - portrait, profile, interests
etc.
within
one's own web-site or in a multimedia presentation, the home
page is the main area you get to first, and which functions
as a central point of orientation
in an
educational server solution like TopClass, every user comes
first to a page which is set up by the server individually,
and which contains lists of each person's courses and
students or teachers, information as to whether there are
new messages, essays submitted and waiting to be marked
etc.
