'Server' and 'service provider' -
what's the difference?
A
'Server' is a computer which is connected to the
Internet 24 hours a day, like a library which is always open, or a
host for visiting computers; it's also used for the organisation
of people who run the server computer
'Internet Service Provider', ISP, provides connection to the server, and to
all other servers. The service provider is usually also a server,
but they don't have to be the same; e.g. someone who travels a lot
could have service providers in several different countries, which
connect him/her to their own server, and everywhere else.
