Of course all knowledge can be useful, and the more you know the more smoothly you can tackle problem situations.
Personally I experience the assertion of some suppliers, that the whole thing is 'easy', and that 'the Internet is for everyone', as highly exaggerated: at the same time, I was able to get started with Internet after only a few months' experience of the computer.
