More up-to-date computers use 256 characters, and then the European letters like ö - ä - å - è - é - á are usually included: but this is far from standard, especially in the way the e-mail is handled.
A new standard is being worked out for the handling of letters and numbers on computers, intended to include all the written characters of all the recorded languages of the world, both living and dead. Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Greek - they're no problem, they were finished long ago. The new standard is intended to include the writing systems used in Sanskrit, Arabic, hieroglyphs, and even more.
Even the runes will be included.
Well, that's if the professors manage to agree as to how many runes there actually are.
Then it's just a question of waiting till all computer manufacturers have followed the standard - and all the old ones have been scrapped... Then we'll have everything from A to Å.
