- The history of pedagogical ideas leads us to see
Georgi Lozanov as one of a line of liberal innovators,
from Socrates, through Leonardo, to Montessori,Steiner,
Gardner, Krashen, Asher and beyond.
Many of the elements in Lozanov's practice can be seen in
other fields, having been arrived at independently by
other humanistic educators
- What was unique about Lozanov's contribution was that
he
a) evolved the formalised 'first concert' reading
b) organised the activities in a tightly-knit cycle
c) systematised the approach under a new name which
became the focal point of an international movement
d) indicated the potential of scientific research to
demonstrate the effectiveness of the approach.
It seems, however, that acceptence in the academic world
of Dr. Lozanov's own research will have to await the
publication of substantiated results on a scale which up
to now has not taken place.
