Basic shapes - well, they're fine, as far as they go: but how do you create vector paths when the picture you start off with is defined in pixels, 72 of them to the inch?

There are a variety of ways.

Perhaps the easiest is to let the vector programme do it for you, to automatically trace the vectors from the pixels; and this works just fine with a fairly simple shape.

In the movie alongside here, the red image is the bitmap pasted in as a guide, the black is the result of the vector paths which Fontographer made by automatic tracing.
