At the same time it was hard to deal with the shock one felt at the way things were kept: "more of a store-room than a museum" was one comment, and the books will hardly last longer than another generation if they are left as they are.

The question is, of course, who is in a position to influence in their personal attitudes either the individuals who work with the objects, or the authorities who can allocate resources to ensure that things will last for future generations...?
