Reaching out to the World...

Well, this is really just to say that for me the InterNet has been a wonderful revolution: instant written communication with friends and colleagues, whether it's in another part of the same town, across the Baltic to Sweden, across the Atlantic and a whole continent to Silicon Valley, or half-way round the world to Australia and New Zealand: and we can send pictures and music and animations and multimedia presentations... I've certainly never experienced such stimulus.

And it's not just virtual reality either - an e-mail contact led to a new real-life contact with Knud in Denmark, with a concert and an overnight stay on the way between Sweden and England...

Perhaps most remarkable for me is that, while I wouldn't go so far as to say I understand much of what's going on, I do at least know enough to make it work nearly all of the time now, through migrations between Sweden and Estonia, and even a change of operating system last weekend... That's real empowerment!
