Tom was a conscientious objector, faced his tribunal
and was allowed to work at home as an auxiliary fireman:
six weeks after the wedding he was hit by an incendiary bomb
and died in hospital some hours later.

Peggy started a new life afterwards, and didn't keep up her links with the Kettlewells
