Font suitcases on the Mac
On the Mac, the other two kinds - the bitmap font and the TrueType - normally live inside a suitcase icon:
and if you double-click on that you can see the icon for the fonts themselves inside - a suitcase might contain only fonts of one sort, or there may be bitmaps and TrueTypes alongside one another:
