PostScript fonts
A third kind of font is needed if you are printing to a PostScript printer, and by Adobe Acrobat's Portable Document Format, PDF: 'PostScript' fonts.
They consist of two files, one for screen and one for print.
You can tell a PostScript font in the Mac Finder from its icon, while Windows Explorer shows them as of an unknown creator: ... while, on the Mac, PostScript fonts installed by Adobe Acrobat have their own icon:
