Programmes which handle vector graphics - a deeper look

Corel suite

The Corel programmes are so obviously made for Windows; they're rather new to the Mac, and they simply don't feel like Mac programmes; the software boxes have always been very inspiring though, and they have enormous collections of photos and clip art.

It's very nice that they're Canadian for a change. Though I don't know if it makes any difference in the end.

And it was so encouraging that they bought WordPerfect to make an effective competition to the monopolistic tendencies of Microsoft.

There was a free version of the Corel Graphics suite with MacFormat magazine, the idea was that you would upgrade to a later version if you liked it, of course; but they refused point blank to help with a major problem with installation of it unless I bought it first, so of course they lost that potential customer ...

I looked again this time round, and found the tools horribly primitive compared with Illustrator or FreeHand, although there is lots of scope for making it behave the way you want to work ...

I never had anyone to show me how they work with it which is also a drawback.

... a CorelDrawback, of course ...
