Why vector graphics?

I got the Bellerophon colouring book of mediaeval illuminated letters for 8-year-old Edwin: and suddenly realised - that I had a great longing to be able to use things like that in a font on the computer - that my library includes lots of reproductions of mediaeval illuminated manuscripts - and that I think I have both the knowledge and the software to be to realise that particular dream How far it's a sensible idea in the first place, to represent and reproduce electronically something which by its very nature is essentially hand-made and unique every time, is a central topic too, of course: maybe we can discuss it over a cup of coffee or in the pub ... If anyone takes it up, I'll make a new page of the discussion.
