Very often David draws your attention to simple and well-known aspects of things, e.g. how to use 16 & 17thC master's principles in today's music teaching.
What he has to give is greatly needed in many different fields, specially to those who work teaching other people.
As David himself emphasises, you don't have to do things his way - but you should take account of what another person can contribute when you are going to solve a problem...
