Your actual Venetian fort

Well, I found it. Delightful feeling at the moment of entry, a feeling of somebody actually doing something, perhaps even looking after the place, a walled garden in best renaissance style, there's even a tree and a bit of grass (apart from the hotel, the first I've seen in a week?)...

After a while I realise it's all an elaborate EU project - the tufts of grass are very recent imports, newly-planted in the native gravel. And the whole

thing is still just a place to fight from, a castle built from a child's drawing.

In a wall alongside is a charming little Grecian arch in rather good condition... it leads to a little backyard filled with building rubble and smelling of shit.
