Evening in the city

I find the place where Iro said I could buy English books - it's little more than a kiosk, and most if not all the books are second-hand, but that's fine by me ... There are two I could think of spending a few days with, one 800 pages, the other 600, 1500 drachmas / 3 USD each...

It's actually rather fun being in a culture where the people aren't specially worried about what the police might say or do - "They're all asleep anyway ..." and parking somewhere right in the city centre, taking your own responsibility for not blocking someone else's way out ...

The book-'shop' is right next to several places which do gyros, delicious and cheap enough at 12:- SKr / 1 USD that you can treat yourself to a pancake with ice-cream and chocolate sauce afterwards ...

By then it's after 6 pm and completely dark, both exciting and nervy to try to work out where I might sleep that night ... I have no clear idea except that I want to get out of the city ...
