And so we found our way back to the boat terminal in Newcastle: we'll skip the details of the mis-information and muddles and mistakes and insults involved in negotiating that hazard.

We were a bit puzzled as to why there were so many Norwegians on a boat connecting England and Sweden: and then suddenly at breakfast time we saw land where there should normally be sea.

Ah! this season, the boat stops off at Kristiansand, the southern point of Norway - no-one thought of telling the passengers... The company decided that an-hour-and-a-half was too short to let us go and stretch our legs on land and buy a goat-cheese sandwich, but at least they didn't stop us taking photos as we left - for Sweden and,after a day's drive for me and a night's Baltic boat trip for Dagmar, home.
