Really High
Lands: |
Oh Lord, this really is the Highlands: and that means new major roads with a really good surface all the way to Skye, so that milk lorries and long-distance coaches and oil tankers can zoom along at enormous speeds and bring the Hebrides into the 21st Century. Only trouble is they are still mountain roads, almost as twisty as some in Norway (you can see in the middle of the photo), but the drivers behave as if they were on a straight motorway. Most of them couldn't possibly stop in the distance they can see, if their lives depended on it - which of course they do sometimes. You can say that what other people do is their own business: but in this case I had enough of busses and trucks sitting on my tail, about a metre behind at high speeds. There's nowhere to overtake of course... |
