OPENING HEARTS
Adrian Underhill (UK) Adrian is a consultant and coach in leadership and teacher development in many countries, a Training Consultant to the International Teacher Training Institute at Embassy CES in Hastings UK, editor of the Heinemann Teacher Development Series and author of Sound Foundations: Living Phonology. Currently he is vice-president of IATEFL and founder of the IATEFL Teacher Development Group. Presentation: Good leadership is learning. Good learning is leadership (Plenary) We will explore new ways of looking at teaching and leadership as offering service to people and planet with quality of living and learning at its heart. When leaders act in 'life-affirming' ways people feel truly engaged in their work. We will explore some of the practical skills and insights needed to practice such 'open heart leadership' in these complex and difficult times. You and the story you are living and teaching In this workshop we will study the use of stories in the unfolding of our own lives as teachers and life-learners. We will work with the telling of a story in ways that convey passion and fire. And we will look at the use of personal story-making as ways of engaging our students' hearts in their own learning, raising their self esteem and working in a new language.
